2007 Las Vegas International Chess Festival Report

Quick Notes from the tournament:

- Janice Chen tied for 1st place in the Susan Polgar Tournament.

- Scott Burris drew in the simul against four-time US Champion Alexander Shabalov.  See his game at http://www.monroi.com/wdc/round.php?round_id=1209.

- Morry Holland drew in his simul game against Victor Korchnoi.  Victor tied for 2nd place in the National Open, so he's still in form. Here are the moves:

- Scott Burris won $1,849 for clear 2nd place in the Under 1600 section with 5.5 out of 6 points.

- John Tillotsen did well in both the 10-minute and 5-minute blitz tournaments, winning about $400.  He upset Jerry Henkin, a frequent Chess Life contributor.

- Vanel Sanchez's only loss in the 5-minute blitz was to a GM.
