- Janice Chen tied for 1st place in the Susan Polgar Tournament.

- Morry Holland drew in his simul game against Victor Korchnoi. Victor
tied for 2nd place in the National Open, so he's still in form. Here are the

- Scott Burris won $1,849 for clear 2nd place in the Under 1600 section with 5.5 out of 6 points.
- John Tillotsen did well in both the 10-minute and 5-minute blitz tournaments, winning about $400. He upset Jerry Henkin, a frequent Chess Life contributor.
- Vanel Sanchez's only loss in the 5-minute blitz was to a GM.
