Quick Chess

Game/15 & Blitz

G/15 with 5 second increment is held weekly except the last Saturday of the month when the format changes to rated Blitz at G/5 with 3 second increment.  Quick chess tournaments are not held when conflicting with other local/state adult tournaments.

Location:  Basement of the Salt Lake Community College Markosian Library (Off Redwood Rd at ~4500 S) ; When the college is closed, we move to the University of Utah, A Ray Olpin Student Union first floor food court.

Time:  1:00-4:30pm (Please arrive early for registration)

Registration:

Preferred option:  Text your name and USCF ID # to Doug Duncan 801-347-2401 or to Grant Hodson 801-560-0498 before 10pm Friday.

2nd option:  Email your name and USCF ID # to Doug Duncan at dougdpll@msn.com or to Grant Hodson at granthodson@comcast.net before 10 pm Friday.

3rd option:  Call Doug Duncan 801-347-2401 or Grant Hodson 801-560-0498 and tell him your name and USCF ID # before 10 pm Friday.

He will text/email you back that he has received it.  Arrive by 1 pm Saturday, and pay Doug your $5 cash entry fee.  After you have paid, you will be entered into the tournament.  Registration will close at 1:25pm.  The pairings will be posted at 1:30pm.

It is better to register and not show up than to register on site.  It saves time.  If you register and can’t make it Saturday, text or call in your withdrawal on Saturday morning 801-347-2401 or 801-560-0498.

On site option:  Arrive at 1pm to register.  Showing up after 1:20 may result in being added to the tournament in round 2.

Sections:  In order to have two separate sections, please arrive by 1pm.  This way there will be enough time to set up both sections if there are over 23 players.  We want to start the tournament at 1:30 pm.

Entry Fee:  $5 Cash only

Send paid registration entries to:
Grant Hodson, 5856 W. Cilma Dr, West Valley City, UT 84128 (granthodson@comcast.net)

Prizes:  Section winners normally receive $20-$40 depending on the number of players, after subtracting for rating fees and any free entries.  Ties for 1st place, of course, split the money.  (This tournament is essentially non-profit.)

Consolation:  Anyone losing all four games is entitled to free entry the following week.  Please get signed slip from Grant or Doug noting date of free entry, to avoid any potential dispute.

*Participation in this tournament requires current USCF membership.  New and renewed annual memberships may be purchased at USChess.org
